Team up with a partner for 2 vs 2 in the easy to learn, fast paced game of Hockey!
In Hockey, each round or "period" will start with the player left of the dealer. The role of dealer passes to the left after each period.
On a player's turn they play a card into the middle. If they match the rank of the previously played card, they take all the cards and score 1 point for their team and the next player in rotation will start a new pile by playing a card. The strategy here is that players want to play cards that they think the next player in rotation cannot match.
Jacks are block cards and cannot be scored on. This means that a Jack can never be played on top of another Jack. However, a Jack may never be the first card played in a period.
VARIANTS
8's may also be used as block cards in the exact same way as Jacks (cannot be scored on and cannot be played as the first card each period).
2's can be used as an automatic scoring card. If a 2 is played, it scores the pile no matter what. However, a 2 must be played on top of another card and cannot start a pile.
Instead of the player left of the dealer starting a period, the player holding the 4 of Clubs would instead start the period.
The game is played for a total of 3 periods after which the team with the most points wins!
